Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Agreement

These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern your use of SplitBoard (splitbillonline.com), a free bill split calculator. By accessing or using SplitBoard, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

The service

SplitBoard lets you and the people you share a link with track shared expenses and see who owes whom. The service stores board data — board names, member names, currencies, and expenses — and makes it available to anyone with the board link. Boards are private to people with the link; the link is the key.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for how you use SplitBoard. In particular, you agree not to:

  • Use the service for anything unlawful or harmful.
  • Add, edit, or delete data on a board you don't have permission to use.
  • Attempt to break, overload, or probe the service or its infrastructure.
  • Use the service to store sensitive personal information or unlawful content.
  • Share a board link more widely than the group it's meant for.

Keep board links private to your group. Anyone with the link can view and change the board, so treat links the way you'd treat a password.

Not a money service

SplitBoard is a calculator and record-keeping tool. It does not process payments, hold money, or facilitate transfers. Any payments between you and the people you share a board with happen entirely outside the service. Always settle up using a payment method you trust and verify amounts independently where it matters.

Intellectual property

The SplitBoard name, logo, design, and software are owned by or licensed to the SplitBoard team. You may use the service for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, resell, or redistribute the service or its branding without permission.

Availability and changes

We work to keep SplitBoard available and free, but the service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue part or all of the service at any time, and we may update these Terms by posting a new version here. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SplitBoard is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The calculator is designed to help with everyday splitting; always double-check anything that matters to you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the SplitBoard team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service. Because the service does not handle money, any financial loss from a mistake in splitting, or from settling up outside the service, is your responsibility.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the jurisdiction in which the SplitBoard team operates. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
